From what age is it possible to sit the EFB Exam?
Candidates must be at least age 14 in the year of registration for EFB Exams.
Are there any allowances for disabled candidates?
As part of Equal Opportunities, disabled candidates may receive allowances when sitting the EFB Exams. The disability must be reported with supporting medical evidance at the time of registering for the Exam. Candidates with weak eyesight may be allowed to receive a scripts with enlarged letters. For candidates with dislexia, disgraphia, and other coordinational disfunctions, it is possible to extend the time of the Writing Test and the preparation time for the Speaking Test by one third of the set time. Candidates with a hearing disability may be allowed to listen twice to the recording at the Listening Test . The permission for such allowances is issued by LCCI Hungary.
How and where shall I register for English for Business? How much is the Exam Fee?
Registration for EFB Exams is by sending the signed Registration Form and the Examination Fee to the Examination Site or Centre where you wish to take the Exam not later then the deadline for registration. It is also possible to register on-line. It is important to note that registration on-line is only valid when the Examination Fee has arrived at the Examination Site or Centre indicated on the on-line form. Payment is possible by bank transfer, "yellow postal cheque", or in person.

How can I defer the EFB Exam?
No cancellation is possible. A Deferral Permit may be given by LCCI UK providing a valid medical proof is provided by the candidate. Deferral is possible only once and only for the next session. Parts of exams (for instance Listening Test) are not allowed to be deferred. Medical proof must be given to the Examination Site or Centre within 15 days after the Exam. The Deferral Fee is approximtely 3.000 Ft. and is set by individual Examination Sites.
What kinds of dictionaries can I use at the Writing and Reading Test?
You may use a general English or bilingual dictionary for the Writing and Reading Test. No electronic dictionary is allowed. It is forbidden to have notes in the dictionary.
We recommend that dictionaries are used mainly for spell-checking.
When and how will I find out my results?
We announce the EFB results within 30 days from the Exam. You will be notified by electronic mail from the Examination Site or Centre where the Exam was taken. Current results will also be available on-line by entering your 8 digit Candidate Number.
What do I need to know about evaluation? What kind of certificate will I get?
Evaluation takes place in the UK. Results are announced within 30 days. Results may be: Pass with Distinction (75%), Pass with Merit (60%), Pass (50%) or Fail. Hungarian Certificates are issued from 60%, providing you achieved a minimum 40% at each of the language skills. Hungarian Certificates may be Complex, Written or Oral. LCCI UK issues International Certificates and these can be Complex, Written or Oral.
Is it possible that I get an International Certificate but not a Hungarian one?
Yes, it is. If you achieve between 50% and 60% you will receive an International LCCI Certificate only. Furthermore, it is possible to achieve over 60% but not having the minimum 40% from each skill. (For instance, you had 60% at the Speaking Test but you did not turn up for the Listening Test). No Hungarian Certificate will be issued in such a case.
How can I "Hungarianise" my LCCI EFB Certificate?
Equalisation of LCCI EFB Certificates is possible in the following two cases:
1. If the Certificate was obtained abroad (outside Hungary).
2. If the Certificate was obtained in Hungary between 1 January 2000 and 13 December 2004.
The condition for equalisation is to successfully take a Listening Test . You can register for a Listening Test at LCCI Hungary and the Exam is organised 5 times a year and costs 7000 Ft. The Equalisation procedure is then undertaken by Oktatási Hivatal - NYAK.
Is there a time limit between the 2 parts (Writing Test and Speaking Test)? Do certificates expire?
Based on the Hungarian Government Decree there is no time limit between the Writing Test and the Speaking Test. Also, the certificates do not expire.
What do I need to know about viewing and the appeal procedure? How much is it?
As it is stated in the Code of Examination candidates may require viewing of their scripts within 5 days after the announcement of the results. Viewing takes place only in the Centre (IBS 1021 Budapest Tárogató u. 2-4.), at a time agreed prior to viewing. Apart from their scripts Candidates may view the marking scheme. Questions on marking may be addressed to a specialist teacher in the room. It is possible to take handwritten notes from the script. Viewing has a time limit of 30 minutes. The procedure is free of charge. Candidates under 18 may have a parent or a legal guardian present.
Appeals may be sent to the Centre within 15 days after the announcement of the results in to ways: by registered post as well as by email or fax. In case of sending the appeal by post the date of posting is what counts. Appeals are judged within 15 days and candidates are notified about the result.
From 1 June 2011 First-degree Appeals have a fee of 20% of the Examination Fee if the Candidate asks for re-marking. In all other cases Appeals are free of charge. A proof must be provided that the fee was paid to LCCI Hungary when the appeal is sent. The new rule was introduced by Oktatási Hivatal NYAK. What happens if I lost my Certificate?
Duplicate of lost Hungarain State Language Certificates is issued by Oktatási Hivatal-NYAK. Please write to info@nyak.hu and provide your personal data and the examination details. Oktatási Hivatal does not issue a new "hard-cover" certificate.
Fee for issuing another International Certificate is 66 Euro. Please contact LCCI Hungary with your personal and examination details.
What happens if there is a mistake in my certificate?
Personal data is registered based on the data provided by the Candidate on the Registration Form (or data provided by Candidate on-line). If there is a mistake in the certificate please send it back to LCCI Hungary as soon as possible. If the mistake was made by the Examination Centre the re-issue of the Certificate is free of charge. However, if the data on the Registration Form was filled out with a mistake or the data was not readable/clear, the re-issie of the certificate has a charge of 2500 HUF. The same rules apply to re-issuing International Certificates. However, the fee in this case is 66 Euro.
